Our Favorite Things

I just threw one of my favorite parties to date: a My Favorite Things Party. I did it just a couple days after Valentine's Day, so I stayed with the heart theme and colors. Everyone brought 4 of their favorite thing (staying under $6). I loved the variety of things we got -- nail polish kits, Olive Garden salad dressing, Pride and Prejudice (paperback), a paint brush, gift card to a favorite gas station around here. My favorite thing was, of course, Martha Stewart glitter. It really is better than all other glitter.

This party also allowed me to make some fun crafts. I made the heart on my mirror using tissue paper poms (stolen from the cover of Martha Stewart).
I did a hot chocolate bar. This is taken after people had eaten, so it's a little messy. The toppings included homemade and mini marshmallows, whipped cream, pirouettes, a variety of chopped candy bars, red hots, and cinnamon sticks. I also made some mini cupcakes - vanilla bean cupcakes with swiss meringue buttercream frosting. If you're willing to spend a reeeeeeaaalllly long time mixing both the batter and the frosting, I'd really recommend these. I also made apricot brie bites.
Votives made using my fave Martha glitter. See? Isn't it just better -- more fine? more sparkly? I love this stuff.
