Minnesota's State Fair is apparently world-famous and I wanted to go. Matt and Tate were great sports and it was a lot of fun (but turned into a small saga)!
We saw lots of farm animals, including witnessing the birth of several pigs and a whole calf! Kind of gross/amazing. Here is Matt wearing an ugly farm hat my grandpa gave to him. He fit riiiiiight in.

Tate, young as he is, was actually pretty interested in the animals. He enjoyed picking the goat's nose (I washed his hand, don't worry). Notice that he is wearing pants in this picture.

The biggest boar in MN! Check out that sucker!!!! (don't you feel sort of sad for him? everyone is gawking at how fat he is and he didn't have very much room to move around. i felt a little sad and a little grossed out).

Here comes the fun part: the fried food. I departed from my usual diet, which proved to be a fatal mistake. Matt and I shared four fried food items, including this fried Snickers.

...And now for the really fun part. Tate decided it was important to initiate us as parents by puking ALL OVER himself and his stroller on a very busy thoroughfare. He felt great afterward while we attempted to clean up. I only had a onesie with me, so that's what he wore for the half hour before we got back to the car. Some lady passed him and said, "I just want to squeeze his thighs!" I wanted to say, "Uh, under usual circumstances you wouldn't be able to even see his thighs! Mine is a pants-wearing baby!!!" I bit my tongue.
Tate loved going sans-culottes, just like those revolutionary Frenchies.

And for the really fun part: I started feeling queasy that evening and spent the duration of the night into the morning in and out of the bathroom 8 times. I weighed two pounds less the next day. (Sweet!)
State Fair verdict: Animals and ambiance was fun, stay away from the food, bring extra clothing for child.

that is awful! and I would have tried the food... after a horrible episode I recently had - I prefer to just cook at home.
Sad! . . . and fun, though. A fried snickers? Would a puke be worth trying that? Maybe . . .
Too funny! What a day to remember! You know what I like the most about Alissa-the-stay-at-home-mom? More blog updates!!!! That Tate has grown up since May. Please make him stop. :) (And by the way, he is still soooooo cute!) Miss you guys!
Dear Alissa, we miss you so, so much! Thanks for all of the wonderful blog updates. I have been meaning to tell you that I think you are one of most intelligent women I have ever met. I will move to where ever you live in 10 years just so you will teach my kids.
We love the LA Fair, we just went for the third time. The best part is the food but the worst would be getting sick:(
Alissa, you need to hook up with my friend, Natalie Skinner. Her and her little family are there. She has two little kiddies and you will adore her! Not sure what ward she's in, but I will comment to her too.
I love fairs. I make Corey go to them...and we even splurge on a fried twinkie. I'm impressed you guys tried 4. :)
