Up North

For the family vacay we went to Charlevoix, MI -- the farthest north I've ever vacationed. We had a great time discovering a new area and I'm having a hard time editing down the pictures.

One event that helped to make our move especially horrible involved Matt having no clothes of his own. He had to borrow Collin's to go to church, but I guess Collin's feet are too big for Matt to have worn decent shoes, so... (also, doesn't he kind of look like Collin since he's wearing his clothes?)

Felix (nephew) and I enjoying the water outside our house. Well, more this is Felix enjoying throwing rocks in with an enthusiastic grunt for each rock.

Maren (niece) - eating the vacuum?
We headed over to Mackinac Island, home of the gorgeous Grand Hotel from "Somewhere in Time." No cars are allowed on the island, so we biked around it and my Matt towed these two little ones. Maren and Tate kept pulling each other's pacifier out of the other's mouth and putting it in his/her own mouth. The pacifier wars lasted for at least ten minutes.

Collin and Felix on the boat to Mackinac.
Doesn't this make you want to live in the 1890s?! Gorgeous! This island really was one of the most beautiful I've been in awhile - the flowers all over the island were stunning.
Cute fellas, huh?
Matt and Maren share a waltz.
Matt, Matt, Summer and Dad went to Sleeping Bear Dunes to run down the dune, play in that gorgeous water, and run back up again. Running up steep sand didn't sound like a good time to me, but I am duly impressed with my pregnant sister!
A beach we went to had a playground, and this thing (a carousel?) was there. Collin pushed me on it really hard and I thought I was going to die from either laughter or centrifugal force. It was awesome! and it made me wish to be 8 again.

After the lovely Michigan trip, Matt, Tate, and I drove the 12 hours to Rochester. Matt and Collin had unpacked the truck before we went to Michigan, so my first view of my new home was this. Awesome.
I'm happy to report we're totally unpacked, or as unpacked as we're going to get in this place, with only a few remaining items to go on walls.

1) dig the new background. I like that your new phase is symbolically represented by the simplified spread, boy friendly colors and a little more soft.

2)Congrats on being unpacked.That's a major accomplishment!

3) It's called a merry-go-round and they make me sick now, as does swingning, but I do it anyway.
