Chicago, We Love You

We're moving. To Rochester, Minnesota - an hour away from Minneapolis, but doesn't even have a Banana Republic. Matt will be working for pretty much the only employer in the town, while I figure out the adjustment from urban living - the awesomeness of walking everywhere, being a part of a diverse community, having great shopping, enjoying amazing free things in the parks, eating world-class food, and living without our Chicago friends. I will also adjust to not going back to school in the fall. This will be the first fall in 22 years that I haven't gone back to school. And I'm kind of really sad.

When we moved from DC, I really never thought I would love Chicago as much as I loved DC, but I do. I totally do. We move at the end of July, but I leave tomorrow for a 3 week stint in Utah. Life is a little craze right now.

We finally went to the top of the Hancock Building to take in views of our fair city:

Tate and Piper (meaning me and Beth) had one last date together at Crown Fountain. They didn't last too long, but it was still fun. It would have been so fun to see them grow up together.
Sad, sad little me.

(But grateful, grateful little us. As much as I'm not looking forward to the move, this will be a great opportunity for Matt -- and a way to justify his school debt!)

Hey! My brother and his family live in Rochester! They LOVE it. If you want to talk to them about anything, let me know and I'll give you their contact info. They're fabulous people, too. Scott was even a Writing Fellow, and you know how that goes.

Now that I think about it, I think Tom Brinton is in Rochester, too.

Congrats on the job! And I'm so glad you've fallen in love with Chicago, but I never got to come see you. I'll be there in August, but after you go (I think, right?), and I won't get to meet Tate. :(

Good luck in Minnesota. You should totally pick up the accent while you're there.

How exciting! Despite the lack of shopping luxuries in Minnesota--I'm sure it'll be such a fun adventure! I doubt we'll end up in minnesota when Andrew is done with school, but ya never know! Good luck with the move and getting all settled in! And enjoy staying home with Tate--it is so fun!

So I have to say, I really didn't think I'd like not being in the city, but I kind of love it. But maybe that's because I'm only an hour from Chicago. :) But maybe it's because it's quiet and calm and I didn't realize how much I can like quiet and calm. I'm so happy Matt has a great job!! Good luck!!

Congratulations on the job! Good luck with the move, I hate moving. I hate leaving friends.
Don't worrry about missing school too much. Much sooner then you think you will be taking Tate to school! (Trust me, it comes way to fast. Try and enjoy a "schedule" free life!)

How exciting to be moving and for Matt to be starting a new job! Congratulations to the G family! I remember the first year I didn't go back to school--I got nostalgic when I saw the school supplies in Target and had a little tear over freshly sharpened pencils. Now I am over it, although I am sending Jens off to Kindergarten this year, so there might be a few tears this year, too. (From me, not him. He can't wait.)

Congrats!!! Hooray for that job coming through. Caitlin is going to vomit tears for the next month over this though. The flow has already started.

Congratulations on the job; sorry about the move. It is SO HARD!! I'm sure you will adjust...just give it some time (like maybe a couple of years!!). Tate is getting so big!

Alissa, Rochester will be great! My sister-in-law's husband went to school there and they had a great time in the ward. Right now, we have a friend living there named Jared and Natalie Skinner. Their daughter Claire just had a kidney and liver transplant in December. I'm sure you'll meet her, as there are probably not too many people in the ward. You'll love her. She's great!

Congratulations on the new job! Wow! A move to Minnesota! My brother-in-law is currently doing his residency at the Mayo Clinic and he and his wife and their four kids live just outside of Rochester. I know they love their neighborhood, their ward, etc. I could put you in touch with them if you have questions.
I miss Chicago, too. A LOT.

That's big news! Congrats to Matt on the job. Dan has cousins that lived and loved in Rochester. Couldn't get enough of it. Plus Andrea and Tom Brinton are there as well. You'll have to look them up. Good luck with everything and best wishes!
