Chicago.

Welp, folks, I'll admit. Chi-town is all right. It's taken several months, but as a city, Chicago isn't so bad. I have come to this conclusion after having had some time to be a tourist in my own city:

My very dear friend and former roommate, Caitlin, and her great husband, Jeff, are moving to Chicago in August! They came for a house-hunting visit and we had a great weekend. On the Saturday they were here we took L-O-N-G walk around Millenium Park, Grant Park, Museum Campus, and up to the Wrigley Building. Cait had never been here before, so it was a good showing of the city.

Caitlin and I on a walk from my apartment to Cafe Lula. Yum. Don't we look happy? We were.

This is Jeff playing in Millenium Park in the water where the faces spit at you (I have no idea what it is called). Unfortunately for him, it was not a very warm day.

Caitlin and me in Grant Park.

Tulips, tulips everywhere (and all the boards did shrink, water, water, everywhere, nor any drop to drink... if you can name that reference without googling it, you win. and you probably hate that poem as much as i do). Doesn't Matt look like he's 12? He's not; he's 28.

We also went to Buddy Guy's Legends, a Blues club downtown. We enjoyed some southern cooking and blues - obviously.

And finally, we went to Wicked, one of the most touristy activities of all. We went for our anniversary, after eating at the Green Zebra, a vegan restaurant in Wicker Park. It was a great night, which was made greater by having McDonald's soft serve for dessert during intermission. Leave it to me to be classy.

We are so jealous that you will be living close to Jeff and Caitlin. We will have to come visit soon.

The photo of you and Caitlin walking down the sidewalk is one for the books.

Glad you have found a little room in your heart for Chicago- despite the snow.
