Matt was accepted to graduate school at the Illinois Institute of Technology in the School of Design. The plan is to get a dual degree in Design and an MBA. Thus, we are moving to Chicago in August.
I feel glad and sad about this. Glad because Chicago is an awesome city, sad because I love Virginia! Sad because I have to look for a new job (does anyone know anyone in the teaching business in Chi-town???? I hate looking for jobs!). And sad because I can't see Summer and Amber on a regular basis. Sad because the winters in DC are short. Sad because the East Coast is super cool. Sad because our Ward is the best. Sad because we can't drive down to the Outer Banks for Thanksgiving. Sad because it will now take us much longer to get to New York. Sad because I really like my students at my school. And more sads....
But I really am excited (happy face)!

congratulations to matt and to you! it is hard to move, especially when you have been in one place for more than a few months. seriously, though, chicago is a most amazing city and i think you will have a great time there. and what a great opportunity for matt!
Big changes happening! I'm excited to hear about Chicago! You guys really are living in cool places! I want to come visit!!! PS: i think you should visit Utah at the end of July :)
Alissa - just tripped across your blog on my walk through the blogosphere. What a gross word, blogosphere. Anyway, cheers and jeers on the big move. Sad to leave Virginia, but I'm sure you'll love Chicago. Midwestern values. Chicago accents to perk your ears. Killer museums. Beautiful waterfront. And there's no skyline in DC, so that'll be a gorgeous change. Yes, there's snow, but at least overcoats are so in style right now. Hope you keep that face smiling - I'm sure it'll be great!
Hey Alissa! I just ran across your blog and have to say that I have been way out of the loop. It is so fun ot catch up on what you have been up to! That's exciting that you are moving to Chicago. My husband (Brig) is getting his Master's in Art Direction from Miami Ad School...so I know all about being the model for his photo class shots. It gets old after a while, but gotta be supportive!
Congrats on getting accepted to school! And I know there are great schools out here in Crystal Lake, but sad to say I don't know anyone in education closer to the city. Best of luck in your new job search!
