I have long thought that I should really work harder at saving my money to buy one of these gorgeous items, but two problems: a.) it would take me so long to save for said gorgeous items that they would already be out of season by the time I could buy it, and b.) I always end up going to some dumb store -- Gap, Target, TJ Maxx and using my clothes budget on some silly - and cheap - shirt because of the instant gratification factor. Oh, and a third problem: do you think it would look strange to mix gorgeous Kate Spade skirt with silly Loft t-shirt...? See what I mean?
I am interested in hearing two things from blog readers:
1. What is your designer if-I-could-ever-afford it crush? My other one is Tory Burch.
2. Have you ever saved for a long time to buy something gorgeous and wonderful? Was it worth it? Do you wear it as much as you thought you would? (Sometimes I think I want to save for gorgeous item and then remember that I'm a stay at home mom, and when I'm not that, I'm a teacher. Not exactly a glamazon.)
And that is all.
* The do not covet commandment has to be the most broken commandment ever. We don't ever read blog posts talking about people stealing stuff, fornicating, or disrespecting their parents, but people talk about what they want -- stuff that is "swoon worthy" (a phrase that, in my mind, is throw-up worthy), and no one bats and eye. Myself included (see above)! At least I don't covet my neighbor's wife (Exodus 20:17).
What a bizarre post! You can tell I don't write very often...this stream of consciousness would have J. Alfred Prufrock spinning!

I covet most Salvatore Ferragamo shoes and clothing by British designer Paul Smith. Swimsuits are $180. That's like $4 in cloth. But I still want everything he makes anyway. Caitlin bought me a pair of socks (on sale) for my birthday and they were $18. I love them. I also splurged on a Jack Spade work bag and Hugo Boss shoes once...but that's about it.
I would splurge on a lot of things. I'm not even talking about real designer stuff - but every time I go into Anthro I would pretty much buy a ton of different things but I just can't even justify that. So buying a real designer? Oh goodness - it makes my heart skip a beat
Well, I love Kate Spade too A. I always think I should have her stuff b/c we share a name..makes sense right?! I do have one of her purses...and adore it deeply. I've never purchased anything extrememly expensive from a TRUE designer. However, I don't even know if I were a billionare if I would shell out the $$...
Oh, I don't even let myself go there. When I let my In Style subscription run out years ago, I decided to start putting my dreams (and money) toward more practical things - like purchasing a home. Now that I have kids, I buy them about 10 items of clothing for each one I buy myself.
When I was in high school, I decided to "splurge" on a $100 Coach purse - it was a big deal for a girl who earned her money at a dry cleaner! I loved it for a few years and then it went out of style - not worth it. I'd rather have gotten 3 purses at TJ Maxx and then I wouldn't have been sad when the strap (which went down to my waist - that's how long ago this was!) went out of style.
