My Pet Peeve

I think I'm a pretty easy-going kind of girl (except, of course, these past two months in which I have been running around like a chicken with no head -- hence, the lack of posts). The one thing that eats at me is the stupidity of some business owners. Gas station owners, usually.

This pet peeve all started in college. My best friends and I used to take trips to Alpine, UT to visit some friends' aunt and uncle. On the way is a gas station named "Kountry Kitchen." Excuse me, since when is country spelled with a K? I used to remark how much I hated it each time we passed it. Unfortunately this ridiculous trend of misspelling to make up fake alliteration has followed me all the way to D.C. and Chicago! Ack! (By the way, don't these people know that alliteration has nothing to do with letters, but with sounds? Aren't I right? Matt? Dave? Amber?)

In a suburb outside of D.C., I noticed "Karen's Krafts." Is she selling mac and cheese or something? And today I saw an "Oral Kare" sign across the street from my gym. This type of misspelling bothers me the most. This stupid dude isn't even trying to alliterate (or whatever)...he is misspelling for NO DARN REASON!!! Someone please explain the ridiculousness to me. I cannot understand why an educated person who probably went to dental school (in order to provide oral Care) would purposely misspell the nomenclature for his/her business.

Argh. Is anybody with me???

I'M WITH YOU!! I have a personal grudge against "4 Sale" signs.

I am with you. Some people are stupid.

Remind me that I said that if I ever open a business with a stupid name.:)

I had always thought this was kinda creative...coming up with different spellings. But, the dentist one did sort of bother me. Glad you are back on board in the blogging world.

okay, we all know my vendetta against the law office near my house in the 'nati that said:

"ATTORNEY'S AT LAW"

apparently, the attorney is at law. nevermind the fact that what he is TRYING to say is that there are more than one attorney and they are all at law.

argh.

check out this website for some more egregious punctuatory errors: http://www.nationalpunctuationday.com/badpunctpictures11.html

and look through all the pages. they're de-fricken-rick!

Ha Ha. Alissa, don't you remember the car repair shop on Columbia Pkwy, JK Kar Kare? That place mad my whole family mad. We couldn't drive by without commenting on what a stupid name it was, and how the sign really made the owners look dumb.

I think that its kind of cute... it's being creative, thinking out side of the "correct way" box. But I do agree with you in that sense. Lol... dont you love pet peeves? They get us all, I love it.

Of course I knew Amber would remember the Attorney's at law sign. So gross.

I always HATED that Kountry Kitchen sign in Alpine! It was right by my buddy Tyler's house, and I saw it all the time. Yuck!

Rosa and I once saw a sign in Berkeley for a place called Krazy Kuts. You'll be glad to know she's almost more disgusted than me.

I say we join together in a revolution -- let's run around our cities with spray paint and change all the K's into C's.
